ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING · ISTANBUL
Hebun Hivda Ürey
Engineering student building sensor-driven, vision-based, and interaction-focused technical prototypes.
I use electronics, automation, computer vision, and product thinking to turn rough ideas into working systems. Software is the tool. Engineering is the identity.
01 / ABOUT
Systems that sense, decide, and move.
I am an Electrical and Electronics Engineering student at Istanbul Bilgi University. My work is shaped by curiosity for systems that sense, react, move, and communicate.
I am interested in automation, computer vision, embedded systems, test and validation, and technical products. I like taking a rough idea, wiring it up, writing the control logic, and iterating until it works.
I use software the way engineers use instruments: as a tool to build, measure, and validate systems. The goal is always the system, not the code.

02 / SELECTED WORK
Selected engineering work.
Each project is shown as a system: input, decision, output. Scroll through each one; the simulation follows the story.
PROJECT 01
Making Detection Visible: Face-Responsive Gaze Probe
Python · OpenCV · Computer Vision · Interactive Systems
A face-responsive gaze probe that turns transient camera-based face detection into visible animated gaze. The prototype detects presence and position, not identity.
NO IDENTITY · NO STORAGE · TRANSIENT INPUT
ENGINEERING PROBLEM
Camera-based systems often hide their sensing. This project asks how detection can become visible without turning the viewer into an identified subject.
APPROACH
Capture a live camera frame, preprocess it in grayscale, detect a face with a Haar cascade, calculate the face center, and map the coordinate to a left, center, or right gaze state rendered as animated eyes. When no valid face is found, the system falls back to an idle state.
WHAT I LEARNED
Real-time interaction is not only about detection accuracy. Readability, latency, privacy boundaries, and fallback states decide whether a sensing system feels understandable.
PROJECT 02
Dual-Axis Solar Tracker
Arduino · LDR Sensors · Servo Motors · Automation
A dual-axis solar tracking prototype that uses LDR feedback and servo actuation to orient a panel toward stronger light.
ENGINEERING PROBLEM
Fixed panels cannot react to changing light direction. The prototype tests how sensor feedback can drive two-axis orientation control.
APPROACH
Read four LDR values (left top, right top, left bottom, right bottom), average them into top, bottom, left, and right signals, compare the horizontal and vertical differences, and update two servo angles through Arduino control logic.
WHAT I LEARNED
Small sensor differences need clear thresholds, stable control logic, and respect for actuator limits. The hardware behavior matters as much as the code.
PROJECT 03
Multiclass Diabetes Classification
Machine Learning · Feature Engineering · Evaluation Design
A leakage-free multiclass classification study that tests how far non-laboratory features can go once direct diagnostic biomarkers are removed.
LEAKAGE GATEOPEN
SELF-MEASURED
A ENGINEERED
DIETARY
COMPARED
RESEARCH EXPERIMENT · NOT A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL
ENGINEERING PROBLEM
Models can look artificially strong when diagnostic variables leak into the predictor set. This project focuses on cleaner evaluation rather than inflated accuracy.
APPROACH
Remove diagnosis-adjacent variables such as fasting glucose and HbA1c, engineer self-measured features, compare multiple classifiers, and evaluate with macro metrics because the three classes are imbalanced.
WHAT I LEARNED
Model performance is not only the highest accuracy. Experimental design, leakage prevention, class imbalance, and honest interpretation matter more.
PROJECT 04
GameCapsuleTV
Product Concept · Interactive UI · Content System
A gaming content platform concept focused on organizing media, interaction points, and lightweight game mechanics into a coherent user experience.
nova_ rolled a 6, capsule unlocked
kzm joined channel #04
pixelmoth new high score · 2,140
ENGINEERING PROBLEM
Content platforms need structure, navigation, identity, and repeatable interaction loops, not just pages.
APPROACH
Design a capsule-like interface system with content sections, profile-like elements, lightweight game mechanics, and a clear platform identity around a gaming channel ecosystem.
WHAT I LEARNED
Technical products need more than implementation. The way content, interaction, and user return paths are structured determines whether a project feels alive.
